QA / DevOps Ninja

Daily Insight Group, is seeking a full-time QA Engineering Ninja to join our team of awesome engineers. Our development cycle is rapid, iterative, and driven by metrics, analytics and market trends.

DIG engineers are excited to pick up any of the languages, technologies or methodologies necessary to smite a challenge ... and if a conventional solution doesn't exist, they innovate as necessary.

The ideal qa ninja for this position is someone who has strong aptitude for automating scripts (bash, perl, php, python, ruby etc..) but also possess the attention to detail to do traditional user click testing in multiple browsers. This person needs to "think like the user" but also possess the skills of a programmer!

This position is new. There is no manual or one week orientation however, you will participate in helping us create our more formal QA process that reduces risk without slowing us down. We want a self-starter who knows how to find answers and solve problems. Lots of opportunity for growth in this position for quick learners -- as long as they leave their egos at the door and turn mistakes into lessons. Why do we need such a unique and skilled engineer? Our servers process several million requests daily and are responsible for delivering content to email inboxes, Twitter feeds, social graphs, smart phones and web browsers several billion times a year. Our technology stack is kick ass -- built on the latest web and application technologies including Node.js, Nginx, PostgreSQL 9, MongoDB, etc. Qualified candidates will demonstrate a track record of high performance, teamwork, passion for detail, and the ability to work in an extremely fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

•   Test automation, scripting and code management (Git) and deployment (Capistrano).
•   QA and deployment process. From the running of unit tests, debugging issues from a client side / application perspective, end user testing, and test automation.
•   Develop and deploy automated tests and frameworks for both front end and back end tests.
•   Help troubleshoot and resolve environment related issues on company web, database and file servers.
•   Help monitor system stability and performance related to application releases.
•   Write solid documentation and keep the company's wiki up to date for other team members' benefit.

Requirements

•   Experience with shell scripting, basic Linux configuration and management
•   Scripting ability (bash/perl/php/python/ruby, or similar).
•   Understanding of SQL for querying relational databases, content systems, etc.
•   Traditional point and click user browser testing experience.
•   Bug Management and Reporting Experience (via Bugzilla, Trac etc.)
•   Excellent verbal and written skills.
•   Excellent time/resource management skills.

Not required but considered a serious plus:

•   Experience working in a C.I. environment is a serious plus.
•   2+ years web development (PHP, Ruby, JavaScript), systems engineering / management, or related experience.
•   Mobile browser and App testing experience
•   Our environment is mostly CENTOS Linux. Prior working experience with this distro is a serious plus.
•   Experience in working in an agile C.I. environment.
•   Web analytics experience.
